Noah Hawley’s legion of actors is steadily growing; the Fargo producer’s upcoming X-Men series has added three new cast members to the FX drama.

Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, and Jean Smart have all been cast in Legion; Hawley wrote the pilot and serves as executive producer. Stevens has been cast as the lead David Haller, a man diagnosed as schizophrenic who is on the verge of giving up his fight to regain his sanity when he meets the girl of his dreams. Plaza stars as Lenny, a friend of David who is described as being able to retain an eternally optimistic outlook that life will improve despite her years of abusing drugs and alcohol. Finally, Smart, who starred in the second season of Hawley’s Fargo, will play the unconventional therapist Melanie.

All three join Rachel Keller, who also starred in Fargo and was previously announced in the role of Syd.

Legion tells the story of David who, after many stays in and out of psychiatric hospitals, learns that the voices in his head and visions he has might actually be real. Haller is actually the mutant son of X-Men’s iconic Professor Charles Xavier, though the series won’t be crossing over with the X-Men films.

Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory, and John Cameron are also producing. Legion is set to begin filming in March and is expected to air sometime in 2016.
